Unique To Baha’is
Giving and Getting
“To be continually giving out for the good of our fellows
undeterred by the fear of poverty and reliant on the unfailing bounty of
the Source of all wealth and all good — that is the secret of right living.”
—Shoghi Effendi
As you will notice, the Baha’i Faith is very inclusive.
However, two aspects of community life are unique and reserved for registered Baha’is. These are 1) the Nineteen Day Feast and 2) financial contributions to the Baha’i Fund.
The Nineteen Day Feast is the centerpiece of Baha’i community life.
Held every 19 days, a “Baha’i Feast” is the community’s regular worship gathering—and a forum for community consultation. Although adaptable to a wide variety of cultures around the world, a Feast will always consist of three elements: spiritual devotion, consultation, and fellowship. “Feast” might imply that a large meal will be served. However, the term means “spiritual feast.” But, please take note, Baha’is LOVE to eat!
Financial Contributions
Contributing financially to the Baha’i Faith is considered a privilege for enrolled members only. Giving has a special significance and is considered a bounty. The amount given to the Baha’i Fund by Baha’is is not important. What is important is the regularity and spirit of sacrifice. How much money a Baha’i gives is never shared and is considered a matter between that person, God—and their tax preparer.
Friends of the Baha’is can still contribute their time, prayers—and unite together to work on service projects.

We must resemble the fountain or spring that continually empties itself of all it has and continually refills from an invisible source.

Bahá’ís believe the crucial need facing humanity is to find a unifying world vision. To learn more visit Bahai.org
